Library services are part of the Community and Social development services section of the municipality. The objective of which is:
To have an open communication and quality information centre.
Outcome thus far is that Nongoma Municipality has one library with a staff compliment of 10 personnel. The information centre is equipped with a total of 6 computers to offer basic computer skills to the community. These machines are open to the members of Nongoma. The library also serves as the information centre for schools in the area as it runs programs such as Internet@ Your Library which was introduced by the Provincial Library Services under the Department of Arts & Culture.
Community outreach is still a major challenge as most of the people that require the library services are unable to take advantage due to the lack of transport.
