The Municipality Recognizes and Honours Local Co-operatives

On the 27th February Nongoma Municipality hosted a business seminar that will enable Cooperatives to kick-start long term businesses and accelerate economic growth within Nongoma community.  The seminar is aimed to uplift businesses and assist that they also sustainable.

 

 

Different stakeholders were invited including SARS who explained the importance of paying tax when you have a business. The Multi-Purpose Centre was filled up by cooperatives from all the 21 wards.

“Business is vital part of any community, whether in a rural or an urban setting poverty can be fought this can be achieved if we all work together with the community by uplifting the people” said Hon Mayor M.A Mncwango.

 

Self-help self-reliance has always been what the Mayor hard-pressed since he took over office by understanding that the community can only get themselves out of poverty as Nongoma does not have factories or big companies to employ the community. Cllr MA. Mncwango also got the opportunity to recognise the Cooperatives that are doing well like Delta Blue Chicken, a business that is run by Mrs Zulu from Njampela, Ward 4. The business was registered in 2016. The business sell frozen chicken and a week they sell 1000 frozen chicken, currently Delta Blue Chicken has 18 employees. They also received a certificate of recognition.

Mr Ntuli who also have a successful goat business who shared with the audience how he started his business and advice those who are interested in starting the goat business also how to care for them
